Individuals and organisations can have high performance occasionally but how do you have sustained high performance over time?

Sustained high performance is about your attitude, your actions and behaviours. But it starts with the brain, it’s all about how the brain works. If you get up in the morning and look in the mirror and say, “You’re going to have a bad day,” you’re correct.

You’ve set your negative thought in the front here more and the rest of your brain will back that up all day long. When the elite athlete gets up in the morning and looks in the mirror, he or she doesn’t say, “Oh, gee. I’m going to have a bad day.” Because if they did, everything in the subconscious would back up that positive forward thought. What they do is, they get up in the morning, look in the mirror and say, “I’m going to be successful today. I’m going to be a high performer.”

Constantly having that attitude, constantly having that thought in the front of the brain, helps you connect all that stuff in the back of your brain with that and gets you on that really good, positive thinking about sustained high performance. And the rest of your brain will match that during the day if you keep that positive thought front of mind.
