Are you missing sales because of one simple thing that everybody could do properly but you are probably not doing it? After the break, that one simple thing you can do better.

Everybody wants more sales, that’s obvious in all organisations and all businesses and there’s one simple thing you could do to actually increase your sales, to boost your sales.

What is it? Very simple. Being a better listener. And the trouble is that most people are listening to respond not listening to hear. In our fast-paced world we want to get the solution really quickly.

So how do I do this, that is to open up your mind and stop trying to force something down your client’s throat? Just relax, listen and actually listen to hear.

  • What do they truly want?
  • What are they looking for?
  • How is your business going to help their business?

Listening to your client sounds obvious but we can be very, very keen and enthusiastic too early.

When I worked in IT sales I had a client in the health industry. Had a meeting with the IT manager. I was really keen to give them a solution of what we actually provided. But of course I didn’t listen to him, I didn’t listen clearly and I didn’t match what we had to the solution they needed to the problem they had. I wasn’t listening and therefore I lost the sale.

But I learnt from that that I had to listen better. You too can become a better listener.
